Spring Has Sprung at Stacked: Food Well Built | @FoodWellBuilt #foodwellbuilt #foodie

You may have guessed by now, we LOVE Stacked!  We have enjoyed being invited to try their new seasonal menus and taste the latest and greatest items.  What makes Stacked so great?  Honestly, while the food is wonderful, I love the people that work there!

The customer service at Stacked has been exemplary every time.  At every location I have tried, the staff has given their own personal favorites to try.  A manager has often walked the floor to get feedback to see how they could improve on our experience and the personal touch has never been lost on me.

My latest lunch date with my hubby was no different.  I had ironically dropped off my daughters last Girl Scout Cookie boxes to a friend when we decided to meet up for lunch.  The first thing that caught my eye when I walked in the Huntington Beach location was a Thin Mint Cookie Shake.  It was meant to be.

Dana Point Festival of Whales: Top 5 Events This Weekend | @FestivalofWhales

Have you heard? The Dana Point Festival of Whales is the next two weekends! March 5th, 6th, 12th and 13th, there will be amazing and fun activities for the whole family!

Southern California’s summer tourists may have come and gone, but this winter a different type of tourist will be traveling along the West Coast and heading to Baja during its annual migration: the majestic California Gray Whale. The whales will begin their migration in late November, but from March 5 – 6 and 12 – 13 hundreds of these 35-ton leviathans will splash through the seaside community of Dana Point, California – the West Coast’s premier location to meet and greet these incredible creatures during the 45th Annual Dana Point Festival of Whales.

With so much fun packed into these two weekends, my top choices for heading down there THIS weekend are these Top 5 Events!

Have your kids dress up as pirates and enter the Diamond Dig!  What is the Diamond Dig?  From 11:30-1PM on March 6th, you and your children can dig for buried treasure at Baby Beach!  There is even a pair of real Diamond Earrings donated by Marinelli Fine Jewelry!  This event is $10 per person and they recommend you get there by 11:30.

Sponsored by the Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary Club – all proceeds benefit local children’s charities. For more information call: Alan Wickstrom 949-842-0594 or go online:

Show Review: Cavalia's Odysseo Orange County | @Cavalia #OdysseoOC

You have seen the photos, seen the huge white tent off the 405 freeway and heard about how amazing Cavalia's Odysseo, Orange County is.  I can tell you first-hand what a great show it is because I saw it last week in a media preview.  The horses and their handlers leave you breathless in their acrobatic artistry.

The largest touring show in the world is in Irvine for the next month.  Take your family for an early Valentines Gift and give them memories to last a lifetime!  The director, Normand Latourelle was a pioneer Cirque du Solei from 1985-1990.  He brings the imagination of Cirque du Solei and magic and grace of horses together in harmony.

The stage is unlike anything I have ever seen!  I saw Odysseo in Burbank on a smaller scale and this full version was even better!  There were 70 horses and 45 handlers in the show.  That doesn't include the large tent city of behind the scenes workers!  There are even chefs that cater to the international cast to make them feel more at home.  You can get a glimpse of their life during the RENDEZ-VOUS VIP tour.

The Rendez-vous VIP Lounge opens 90 minutes is available before the show, during the intermission and after the show.  With your VIP Premium tickets, you also receive:
  • Center-row seats
  • VIP Pass
  • Buffet with a wide variety of complimentary foods served before the show
  • Wine, bubbly and beer at will
  • Dessert Buffet, coffee and tea served during intermission
  • Exclusive stables tour after the show
  • Odysseo souvenir
What better way to tell your love for Valentines Day than to pamper her with Dinner, Drinks and a Show?

East Fork Hiking Trail San Gabriel Mountains

Recently, we visited the San Gabriel Mountains for a hike in the West Fork Day Use area of Azusa.  Last weekend, we returned to explore the East Fork Trail(Bridge to Nowhere).  What a beautiful area!

The East Fork Hiking trail holds an area of activities such as hiking, fishing, day camping, and gold prospecting!  It is another kid friendly hike that our family enjoyed exploring.  The trails are wide and full of nature to explore with little chance of the kids getting into too much trouble.  I recommend having the children bring water shoes as they will want to splash.  If you continue up into the canyons, there are several stream crossings to continue and your feet WILL get wet.

At the end of the East Fork Road, is a parking lot that fills up fast with bathroom and picnic facilities.  This moderately leveled hiking trail can be as long or as short as you want.  If you continue to the end of the trail, (10 miles round-trip) be sure to check the weather for thunder-storms.  As in the case of all canyons, flash floods are a possibility.  There was a storm coming in the evening that we hiked so we stuck with the river area near the parking lot.

The river that runs through the canyon would be a great place to dip your feet into on a hot summer day but since we went in the winter, the snow runoff was cool but bearable.  My husband had to wade in to untangle my son's fishing line and he said it was refreshing.

My daughter and I brought gold pans down to the river to try our luck.  We did find a few specks of gold!  When looking for gold in this area, there are no nuggets but you can see a flash of color in your pan in small grains.  Just fyi, there is a lot of Mica in the water looks like gold but floats.  Remember, gold is heavy and will sink to the bottom of your pan and not float away.  If you have young children with very little attention span, you can tell them the Mica is gold and they get very excited!

My son had fun casting his fishing lines into the river but alas, no fish were caught this day.

We were saddened to see how much graffiti there was along the river bed!  It makes us mad that people haven't any respect for nature and instead of seeing the natural beauty of the area, we saw way too much spray-paint!  The further we got away from the parking lot, the less graffiti we saw.

If you continue along the main trail-head up to the 5 mile hike, you will find a Bridge to Nowhere. A 130 foot cement bridge was built for a now washed away road.  In the summer, you will see bungee jumpers jumping off the bridge with guides.

Due to the weather, we had to save the bridge for another day but we had a great time playing in the river and finding mistletoe!  I got a kiss from my baby boy under the mistletoe.

I can see we will be back to the San Gabriel Mountains soon to continue our hiking explorations and check out the Bridge to Nowhere ourselves!

Knott's Berry Farm Helps Early Breast Cancer Awareness #KnottsPink

Knotts Pink

Did you know that Knott's Berry Farm is a HUGE supporter of early breast cancer detection?  Together with such organizations such as the Susan G. Komen Orange County foundation, they have helped over five-hundred thousand women get screened and over $2.5 BILLION raised for screening, education and research for the last 3 years!

For the second year in a row, I was invited to help spread the word through Knott's Berry Farm's #KnottsPink fundraiser and I was happy to accept!

Jaime Jenkins

Did you know that 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer? One of my good friends Jaime Jenkins attended the first #KnottsPink event 2 years ago and it encouraged her to get tested and 2 weeks later, she learned she had breast cancer. She has fought "like a girl" and beat the odds! She is cancer free, 2 years later! Since her form is aggressive, she will have to have medicine the rest of her life and annual tests but she is alive and constantly smiling.

There is no-one not effected in some way by breast cancer. There is no one immune to the possibility of getting it. Mothers, Sisters, Daughters, Fathers, Brothers and Sons! Men and children can get it too! Help us spread the word with Knott's Berry Farm and the Susan G. Komen Orange County!

Horses! Cavalia's Odysseo Comes to Orange County | @Cavalia #Odysseo

Cavalia's Odysseo

I can't believe that Odysseo is almost here!  Only one more week until the Cavalia's Odysseo is back in Southern California!  It has been 3 years since I saw it last in Burbank and  I can't wait to share it with my family in Orange County!  We were invited to review it with other media and I will be sharing the show on my social media sites.

Have you bought your tickets yet?  Don't worry!  The producers see how fast the tickets are selling out and added 13 more shows!  Instead of the  original 2 weeks, it is now running for four.  There are time slots sure to make everyone happy with Matinee and evening performances scheduled February 3rd through February 28th!

February is the month of love and I can't think of any other way to say I love you than with horses.  Every woman at one point of their life was horse-crazy.  In my case, I never outgrew it.

Odysseo’s 65 magnificent horses are enjoying a relaxing 10-day stay at a local farm in San Diego County before their Orange County debut and after sold-out performances in San Francisco, the four-legged stars were transported to a lavish farm in Southern California, in specially equipped trailers alongside Odysseo’s equine specialists.

Local Hikes: West Fork Trail San Gabriel Mountains Wheelchair Accessible

My family loves getting outdoors and getting exercise, that is no surprise.  What is a surprise is that it occurred to me that we hadn't been hiking in way too long.  I have been wanting to explore our local mountains and see what wonderful day hikes we have in our own back yard.

My husband had mentioned that his family used to visit Crystal Lake in Azusa and he thought our kids would enjoy it as well.  We checked the local website for weather conditions and road closures and made plans for Martin Luther King Day.  There was a forecast for snow and my kids were SO excited!  We made sure that we had the proper cold weather clothes and sleds and we were on our way.

As we drove to the Cogswell Dam on the 39, we saw a discerning sight.  A road construction sign said that Crystal Lake was closed(despite the website stating otherwise)!  We were disheartened to learn that we wouldn't be able to play in the snow that day.

We had driven an hour from Long Beach and we really didn't want to just head home.  We drove a little past the Cogswell Dam and saw a rest stop for the West Fork Day Use area.  We were intrigued.  Maybe we could get in a hike after all!

There are multiple "rest rooms" at this location for pit stops.  When I say "pit-stops",  I mean pit!  The bathrooms were not the cleanest and definitely stunk!  The toilets are sitting over a deep pit as most camp bathroom are wont to be.  However, they had toilet paper and I didn't have to squat so it was a small win.  Don't forget to bring hand-sanitizer!

A beautiful bridge brought us down to the main trail which to our surprise was an asphalted road.  This seemed odd to me but it occurred to me that do to this road, people in wheel chairs could easily enjoy the beautiful nature area as well as any other.  In fact there were 3-4 handicapped fishing platforms along the way.

Stacked Huntington Beach: Now Open

Have you heard that Stacked: Food Well Built has arrived in Huntington Beach?  As of this week, it is now open!  Before you doing your shopping at Bella Terra, go across the street and build your meal your way with your table's iPad.

I was invited to a sneak peak of the new location and enjoyed a wonderful lunch date with my hubby.  I was having a rough morning and thought that I would see what "adult specials" were.

I was a little intrigued by the "Hot Chocolate Shake" and the "Ultimate Coffee Shake" but the drink that caught my eye was the "Not Your Father's Root Beer Shake".  I had never heard of the "Not Your Father's Root Beer" line of drinks but I will be seeking it out in the near future.  This delicious drink had the taste of a root beer float but with a little adult kick.  Yummm!

It makes me think out of the box about what delicious treats I have yet to discover.  It seems I find a new drink every time I go to Stacked!

We started off with one of my favorite classics, Spinach and Artichoke dip and chips.  I loved how fresh the chips were.  Our table of three devoured them in moments.

Gray Whale Sweethearts with Harbor Breeze Cruises | @HaborBreezeC #LBWhales

Harbor Breeze Cruises

Gray Whales, the Sweetheart of the Sea.  Did you know that with every breath they take, they create a heart with their exhale?  It puts a smile on your face for sure!  Have you ever considered whale watching romantic?  I have!  In fact, my husband and I were invited by Harbor Breezes to a recent date on the Triumphant and we both loved it!  This would make a great Valentines Day gift!

Harbor Breeze Cruises

January is an exciting month off our California coast.  Did you know that on almost every whale watching trip, there is a strong possibility of seeing a newborn Gray Whale calf?

Gray whales migrate from the Bering Sea down to the Baja Peninsula to give birth in the warm waters.  Most of the expecting mothers give birth on their way down to the coast in mid-January.  On our recent trip, we saw we saw a newborn as we were leaving to head back into port! SO CUTE!  Did you know that they can drink up to 300 gallons of milk a day?!

Coming Soon: Cavalia's Odysseo Orange County | @Cavalia #Odysseo #BigWhiteTop

Cavalia's Odysseo

I had the pleasure of seeing Cavalia's Odysseo a couple years ago when it was in Burbank and thought it was hands-down the most spectacular display of equestrian riders in world!  In fact, most of the riders are from around the world.  You can see my review of it here.

Coming back to Southern California, February 3, 2016, in Irvine, you might have seen the large white tent going up last week!  Odysseo is unlike any show you have ever seen.

What is Odysseo?  It is a live equestrian performance that tells tales from around the globe.  It starts off in a misty enchanted forest where horses roam free under a sky of rolling clouds and setting sun.  The horses and riders take its audience on a journey through the worlds natural wonders.

Cavalia's Odysseo

Using the mind-boggling theatrical effects and a state of the art video screen that is three times larger than the largest movie theater screens, it brings the world to the audience before our eyes.  A three story mountain, a real lake with 40,000 gallons of recycled water, and a magical connection of horse and rider that takes your breath away.

8 Must Try Restaurants in San Jacinto Valley | @VisitSJV #VisitSJV

PUBlic House Temecula

During my recent trip to the San Jacinto Valley in California, I had the pleasure of trying a variety of different restaurants that I feel worth mentioning.  From casual to country clubs and all in between, I thoroughly enjoyed being a foodie.

We started out our trip in Old Town Temecula, which is about 20 minutes from the Valley,  where we had a delightful lunch at the PUBlic House.  This was not a new restaurant to me as I had visited here early in the Summer but as they change their menus with the seasons, I had the chance to try something new.

It was here that I discovered my new favorite TEA of all things!  Since we met up for an early lunch before exploring Downtown Temecula, I decided to try their Cheery Cherry Iced Tea.  I was so impressed by this tea, I asked where to buy it.  Thinking that I would have to order it online, I was pleasantly surprised that there was the Spice and Tea Merchants only a block away that was the creators of this delightful drink.

Temecula CA

Another new for me was duck.  I had never had the opportunity to try duck in my travels and took the opportunity to try the Duck Stuffed Pork.  I wasn't sure what to expect but I was game.  My dish was well plated and a delight!  I had heard that duck can be oily but the duck mixed well with the juices from the pork which laid on a bed of kale.  I would definitely order this again.

Looking for dinner where you can enjoy food and decor straight from Switzerland?  The Anchor Bar offered us a variety of dishes, I chose the Swiss dish that was recommended by the owner herself.  While I cannot ever hope to pronounce the dishes name, it was wine infused pork with a light gravy over mashed potatoes.  WOW!  I was instantly in love.

Hemet CA

I loved the nautical decor throughout the dining room and had no idea that the restaurant held a surprise bar and billiard area through the doors.  You had the intimacy of the dining area and yet you could let down your hair in the next room.

It is no surprise that I am a meat lover and the next restaurant had high recommendations from friends all over!  Sweet Baby Janes BBQ was a place of my own heart.  The restaurant houses large smokers out back that could slow cook a couple steers to perfection!  This little restaurant packed a big punch.

Golden Village Palms RV Resort is for the Fun Adult Crowd | @VisitSJV #VisitSJV

San Jacinto Valley VisitSJV

During my travels last month, I discovered a wonderful hidden gem in the Inland Empire, the San Jacinto Valley.  Having grown up in Southern California, I am stumped as to why I had never been there and hardly ever heard of it!

The San Jacinto Valley is a valley located in South Western Southern California at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains.  In the South end of the valley, lies the Santa Rosa Hills and to the East, and the San Goronio Pass in the North.

At an elevation of 1500 feet, it is home to Hemet and San Jacinto.  The valley was settled by Native Americans thousands of years ago but was more recently settled by the Serrano and Cahuilla people.  It is a place of rich history of their proud heritage.  The Soboba Indian Reservation just East of San Jacinto has many of the descendants of the original people.

The valley is rich with knowledge of early California history and I was excited to get to know it.

Since I was invited to tour the Valley with a great group of travel and lifestyle bloggers, we needed a place to hang our hat.  Since we often use our travel trailer to travel, we stayed at the adults only Golden Village Palms RV Resort.

Not all of us use trailers or RV's but that didn't stop them because they had the most adorable and stylish "cottages" to make you feel right at home.  It is a great place to stay the night, week, month or even years!  There were cottages custom-made to your satisfaction.

Golden Palms Village RV Resort

The Golden Village Palms RV Resort has amenities that make you want to never leave,  In fact, the resort is a famous stopping point for "snow-birds" visiting from Canada and other cold areas.  The weather is great year round!

  • 3 pools with water volleyball courts and jacuzzi
    • They hold water aerobic classes daily
  • Horseshoe pits
  • Indoor shuffle-board tournament style courts
  • Sand volleyball courts
  • Full laundry facilities
  • Pool tables
  • Library with community computers
  • Pickleball(I tried this and it was SO much fun!)
  • Dancing
  • Adult only activities
    • Beer carts anyone? Tequilla?
  • Crafting classes and so much more!
  • Pets? Don't worry! Dogs even have their own activities!
  • How about concerts?  They have a series of adult favorites! (no Justin Bieber here!)
