NEW Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwiches at Boudin's | @BoudinsSF #BoudinGrilledCheesePlease

Grilled cheese isn't just for kids anymore!  I have to admit, when I was invited to try Boudin's(Boo-deen's) new menu, I didn't have high expectations.  Boy was I wrong!

My kids were treated to Boudin's Kids table where they were entertained by one of their fun employees while all of us adults learned more about what makes Boudin's so special.

Did you know that all of the bread at Boudin's were started by the same starter from the 1800's?  The starter dough has good bacteria(found only in San Francisco) instead of yeast that was started more than a century ago.  The original bakery started in San Francisco and even survived the fires of the big earthquakes that destroyed most of the city.

The types of sandwiches have evolved into gourmet tastes that one would never dream of.  We were treated to 3 of the newest Grilled Cheese combinations.  Classic Danish Harvati and Cheddar with Parmesan crust(with or without bacon), Jalapeno Cheddar and the Grilled Brie with Apples and Fig Jam.

Classic Grilled Cheese
The Classic Grilled Cheese isn't as simple as you would think.  This delicious sandwich includes Havarti & sharp cheddar on Parmesan-crusted sourdough bread. The head Chef explained that they used imported Havarti cheese, because they wanted the best flavors and they succeeded.  What could make this better?  BACON!  You have the choice to add bacon to the sandwich and honestly, why wouldn't you?  This was my favorite sandwich hands down!

Jalapeno Grilled Cheese
The new Jalapeno Grilled Cheese is full of flavor with a slight touch of heat.  Don't worry about the Jalapenos because the heat was so mild that even my kids loved it.  The Cheddar Cheese might help mellow the heat but I think that its the Jalapenos that will make me come back for more!

Grilled Brie with Apples & Fig Jam
One of our favorites is the Grilled Brie with Apples & Fig Jam was the dessert of the group.  I wasn't sure if I would like a sweet sandwich but the combination just plain works.  I enjoyed this but honestly, I liked the other two better.

There are so much to choose from on their menu!   To see their menu, please visit their website at www.boudinbakery.com.
