I was also wondering if it would hold the attention of my 7 year old. Forty minutes later, we were both leaving with smiles on our faces and very entertained.
Island of Lemurs: Madagascar is a documentary narrated by Morgan Freeman. These cute (yup, I called them cute) little furry animals were filmed in IMAX 3D which made it feel like the animals were in the theater. The visuals were amazing and makes you feel like you're right there in the mix with all the lemurs.
The spectacular 3D vision of the Madagascar landscape is stunning. I never knew Madagascar was so beautiful. Now I want to go visit! Watching the lemurs jump and dance across the screen, or rather right in front of us, was just as entertaining for everyone.
Kids were laughing and reaching out trying to grab a hold a lemurs tail while parents were amazed at the great athletic ability of lemurs among the trees and rocks. While all this was happening, the audience was learning about all the different types of lemurs on Madagascar, from the Verreaux's Sifaka to the Mouse lemur to the Ring-Tailed lemur.
I highly recommend taking the family out to see Island of Lemurs: Madagascar. Sure, it's a short film. Sure, its a documentary. Sure, IMAX can be a little pricey BUT it's definitely worth it. It has converted me to a lover of lemurs.

Hi everyone! My name is Bridgit. I'm married and have one super awesome kiddo who loves to keep me on my toes. We love spending time outdoors, love playing and watching sports, and listening to music. Looking for fun and free (or next to free) things for our family to do is one of my favorite things because I believe you don't have to break the bank to have fun. The simplest things can create the best memories. I was born and raised in sunny southern California and have recently decided to make it my mission to explore all of what California has to offer.
My favorite film over the last year was probably Frozen.
