WATER SHOW: The Fanfare at the San Pedro Gateway | @PortofLA @SanPedroToday

With the nights so nice in Summer, why end the family activities after the sun goes down?

There is a great activity in San Pedro that is open day and night(until 8-9pm check schedule)!  The Fanfare at the San Pedro Gateway provides great family fun right next to the Battleship Iowa!

When we visit San Pedro, often we see a spectacular water show that rivals those of Las Vegas at the foot of the Vincent Thomas Bridge. My kids had begged me to stop and ride the trolley and watch the music choreographed show.

We had seen the show while driving to the Battleship Iowa on many occasions and finally decided to stop. Since the show continues every 10 minutes through-out the day until 8-9pm, we decided to stop and check it out at night.

The weather was crisp but clear and only a light jacket was needed as we approached the dancing lights and water.

My kids were in heaven! The area was perfect for a little running around as it even has a (somewhat dry) pathway through the middle of the fountains and the kids loved getting a little wet. We spent a little over an hour splashing and watching the show. When we got hungry, we purchased hot chocolate at the food stand available.

During December, the music turns festive and plays Christmas Carols. We plan on returning for a new holiday tradition!

Fanfare at San Pedro Gateway, located at the port entrance on Swinford Street and Harbor Boulevard at the bottom of the Harbor Blvd. exit of 110 / 47 Freeway, features 58 choreographed water jets that build a dramatic waterfront entryway for visitors and residents, whether they arrive by ship, by foot, or by the Port’s popular Waterfront Red Car line that links the Cruise Center to Ports O’ Call. An arc of Canary Island palm trees punctuates the length of the feature, while wooden benches provide both a place to rest and an intimate view of the liquid stage.
