While I post a lot about our family outdoor adventures, one of our family members gets left out a lot lately. Out dog Brittany!
She loves coming camping with us and LOVES hiking! One of her favorite past times is going to the Dog Beach in Huntington Beach.
In case you didn't know, there is a small stretch of beach set aside for dog owners and their fur-babies to enjoy the beach and water off-leash(if well behaved). This beach is between Bolsa Chica and Golden West Blvd, just North of the Huntington Beach pier.

This stretch of beach protects our dogs(and children) from busy PCH by using cliffs as natural barriers. There are life-guard towers at either end of the dog beach but most of it has none so be careful when swimming!
My children love throwing Brittany her ball for endless hours(it seems) and we get to relax in the water or on the sand. I personally have never seen any dog scuffles, although I am sure they happen as they do at dog parks.

Parking is metered and excepts coins or credit card. It is 10 minutes for $.25 so be sure to come prepared. If you really want to avoid the cost of parking, there is limited free parking on PCH near Golden West. There are bathrooms at the top of the North-End ramp and dog pick-up bags available to use at the parking lot.
Please be responsible dog owners and always pick up after your dogs especially on the beach so they keep this stretch of beach for the dogs as many have tried taking it away. There are plenty of trash cans on the beach and bags provided.
I hope you enjoy taking your furbabies with your as much as we do and maybe we will see you there soon!
