June 1 – Pancake Breakfast and Equestrian Ride
8:30 – 11 a.m.
OC Parks and Orange Park Association (OPA) invite you to a pancake breakfast followed by an equestrian ride throughout Irvine Regional Park. Few things bring people together better than a shared meal. A delicious breakfast of pancakes, eggs and bacon will be cooked by Irvine Park Rangers! The park staff looks forward to meeting the community that regularly visit Irvine Regional Park. After breakfast, OPA will be leading equestrian rides through the park’s best trails. Beginner and advanced rides available. All participants who RSVP will be entered into a drawing for OC Parks and OPA goodies! 9:30 – 11 a.m. Join OC Parks' trained staff on an easy 1.1 mile hike to the park's Coastal Redwood grove. You will use your 5 senses to engage with nature as you stroll to the Redwoods. You will also have an opportunity to learn about our native plants along the way. The hike begins each Saturday and Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. from the park's Nature Center. Don't forget to visit our Nature Center when you are there, too!

June 2 – Annual “Bugs and Butterflies” Event
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.Come and be a part of our annual free Bugs and Butterflies event on June 2, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. As you join along on the butterfly garden tour, you will learn about the life cycle of the butterfly, which plants to plant in your yard that attract butterflies, and insect and native plant connections. There will also be fun crafts for the children to make and take home, along with live animal demonstrations.

1 – 4 p.m. Early pioneers found their uses for local and introduced plants, and now science is finding out about potentially valuable medicines in our wild backyard. Learn about these edible and useful plants during a moderate, but steep, uneven 2-mile hike (400-ft. elevation gain) with Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteer Naturalist, Karin Klein (author of 50 Hikes in Orange County).

OC Parks welcomes back its annual concert series. Thirteen free concerts at Craig Regional Park, Mason Regional Park, Mile Square Regional Park, Irvine Regional Park and Salt Creek Beach will present local musical artists performing live in the outdoors June through August. Thursday, June 6 welcomes acclaimed Oingo Boingo tribute band Dead Man's Party performing with Michael Michael at Craig Regional Park.
All of the OC Parks Summer Concerts are part of The World Famous KROQ's ROQ N' Surf summer series. Shows are from 6 to 8 p.m., free concert admission with free parking and open to the public of all ages. Food trucks will have food available for purchase at each location. Friends and families are invited to come out and enjoy great local live music under the stars at OC Parks this summer season.

Now is a great time to start a new fitness routine beginning with an easy 2-mile hike over moderate but uneven terrain to Barbara’s Lake & back (100-ft. elevation gain). Join a Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteer and registered dietitian to learn about fitness and nutrition during this 1.5-hour hike. Wear walking or hiking shoes, hat, sunscreen, and bring water.

This unique 3 hour experience will give students a hands-on, behind the scenes view of what’s involved with caring for the OC Zoo animals. Students will have the opportunity to help prepare food, feed the animals, assist in cleaning the exhibits, and help create enrichment “toys” for the animals. Includes certificate, animal related souvenir, and photo(s) with an animal on a USB/flash drive.

OC Parks welcomes back its annual concert series. Thirteen free concerts at Craig Regional Park, Mason Regional Park, Mile Square Regional Park, Irvine Regional Park and Salt Creek Beach will present local musical artists performing live in the outdoors June through August. June 27 presents the Indie rock sensation The Devious Means with Cherokee Fade at Mason Regional Park.
All of the OC Parks Summer Concerts are part of The World Famous KROQ's ROQ N' Surf summer series. Shows are from 6 to 8 p.m., free concert admission with free parking and open to the public of all ages. Food trucks will have food available for purchase at each location. Friends and families are invited to come out and enjoy great local live music under the stars at OC Parks this summer season.
